French PBL 

The students of grade VI gave a presentation on the conservation and preservation of water and explained its focus in French creatively through poems and slogans.  The students recited the poems aloud, emphasizing the rhythm and emotion in the language. They created some catchy slogans in French that promoted and reinforced the importance of water conservation and preservation. The students summarized the activity with powerful quotes and slogans that encapsulated the message of the presentation which conveyed the importance of water conservation and inspired action among the audience. 

Carousel Brainstorming

Grade VII students did a carousel brainstorming session on the chapter "The Invention of Vita Wonk" from Roald Dahl's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". They were divided into small groups each provided with a large sheet of paper and markers.

The students were provided with prompts such as character analysis, setting description, plot development and moral lessons. The groups were given a set amount of time to brainstorm ideas, insights and questions. Reactions related to the prompt were noted by the children on their assigned sheets of paper. Each group repeated the brainstorming process adding new ideas and building upon the previous group's contributions based on the prompts. This facilitated a discussion on ideas shared by every group.

'Who Wants to be a Millionaire' Activity 

Recreating "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" in a French-themed format added an exciting twist to the traditional quiz setup. Pairing students up and having them compete against each other showed teamwork creating a competitive and fun atmosphere. The use of lifelines added an element of strategy and excitement, while also providing support for students who needed help. The palpable tension and buzz of enthusiasm in the room made the atmosphere electric! The students were actively brainstorming, discussing and collaborating to arrive at the correct answers. The ultimate winners were celebrated and were awarded bookmarks as symbols of victory to recognize their achievements and motivate them to continue learning.

Art and Craft

Grade IV students expressed themselves through various painting styles and techniques. From bold brushstrokes to intricate details, each artwork reflected a unique perspective with a splash of colours and creativity. 

It encouraged the students to think outside the box, experiment with different techniques and express themselves in unique ways. They made still life, landscape, freehand, symmetry, thumb printing and thematic presentations.

This opportunity helped them to showcase their artistic talents and also paved the way for them to explore different mediums and styles of painting.  They received recognition for their hard work and creativity through peer support and encouragement. Overall, it was a rewarding activity that enhanced artistic abilities and also promoted cognitive, emotional and social growth.

Experimentation with Water

Grade V students were guided on designing engaging and educational water experiments. The students were asked thought-provoking questions to stimulate critical thinking in discussions about the scientific principles behind each experiment.

Reflective questions were asked to the students to deepen their understanding of the concepts being explored and guided them in making connections between the experiments and real-life applications.

After completing the experiments, the class gathered for a reflection session. Grade V students deepened their understanding of scientific concepts by developing essential skills such as critical thinking, communication and collaboration in an engaging manner.

A Practical Approach to Understand Floatation 

V-B students had hands-on experiences to understand the concepts of floatation and sinking in water. Students explored the principles to determine whether an object floats or sinks such as placing objects like a cork, Al foil, sand, rubber ball and oil in a bucket of water allowed the students to observe how some items remain afloat while others sink. 

They were encouraged to predict outcomes before conducting the experiments enhancing their critical thinking skills. Discussing factors such as weight, shape and material of the objects provided a foundation for understanding buoyancy. 

This hands-on approach engaged students actively in the learning process and also instilled a practical understanding of the scientific principles behind floatation and sinking.

An interactive session on the 'Human Ear'

The students of grade VIII dived into complex concepts like the structure and function of the human ear. They observed how the cupping of the hands helped to capture and direct sound waves towards the ear canal, demonstrating the role of the outer ear in collecting sound. 

Interactive demonstrations were conducted using models and diagrams to illustrate the anatomy of the ear and its components. Students experimented with different pitches and volumes of sounds to understand how the cochlea in the inner ear processes various sound frequencies.

Students participated in guided discussions to reflect on their learning by connecting abstract concepts with real-world experiences and they gained a holistic understanding of the topic and developed a greater appreciation for the complexities of the human body.

Grade VI Presented the French Highlights

The students used visual aids, such as chart papers to give the presentation. The students gave the presentation in a very dynamic and interesting way. They gave a wonderful presentation on French culture and its various aspects of French life, history, food culture, traditions, etc. as a part of their C and P ( Communication and Presentation Project).

The highlights were famous dishes, the importance of wine and cheese in French gastronomy and French fashion houses. 

The students reflected on the significance of French culture on a global scale. 

Students Learnt to Decode the Calendar

Grade III students used chart papers to read the calendar and note important dates of the month. They learnt to Identify and note important dates on a calendar for the current month using chart paper. The students drew on the large chart paper the calendar grid and briefly explained its components, including days of the week, dates and months. 

They also explained how months are divided into weeks and days, and how each day is represented by a number on the calendar. The students also learnt to identify Important Dates with the help of a colour marking scheme. 

Presentations on French Culture

The students gave a wonderful presentation on French culture and its various aspects of the French season cycle, invitation card writing style, learning to describe one's family in French, describing objects' colours in French, etc. as a part of their C and P  (Communication and Presentation Project).

The students reflected on the significance of French culture that they learned, with a practical blend. The students incorporated visual aids, such as images and chart papers, doodling to enhance the presentation and engage the audience effectively. The students were enthusiastic to incorporate their insights and perspectives to make the presentation more dynamic and interesting.

A  Virtual French Tour

The Grade V French students gave virtual presentations on diverse topics covering a wide range of subjects, from French seasons and months to colours, ordinal numbers and verbs. 

This initiative provided the students with a platform to showcase their presentation skills along with a unique opportunity to learn from peers and gain diverse perspectives.

Carousel Brainstorming- The French Way

Grade V French students did a carousel brainstorming session on the topics of French vocabulary such as subjects, colours,  ordinal numbers and verb conjugations. The main objective of this activity was to acquire various responses which were based on differentiation by ability.  

The groups were named as per the French cities and a time frame was given to brainstorm ideas related to the prompt on their assigned sheet of paper. This encouraged students to compare and contrast their responses which encouraged collaborative learning, critical thinking and a deeper understanding of the grammar and vocabulary topics.

French Active Learning Strategy- The Crossword


The French students had fun while solving a Crossword puzzle. Participating in these communities can provide motivation, support and opportunities for collaboration with others learning French.


After doing a crossword puzzle in French, the students got an opportunity to have a quick check on the linguistic, cognitive and cultural benefits. The key objective of this activity was to nurture the skill set such as vocabulary expansion, language practice, cultural learning, cognitive benefits, language retention, enjoyment and relaxation, self-assessment and community engagement.  

French Weekdays- The Flashcard Way

The French students of Grade 5 had a fun activity using flashcards to learn months and weekdays in French. The names were written on one side of the flashcard and their English equivalents were written on the other side. 


Then, the students practised by flipping the cards, to reinforce their memory. The students had fun throughout the session and they reflected well on the activity that they  performed. 

Email Writing- an Integration with IT & English


The students of grade VII learnt the skill of email writing which has several benefits. The students got an opportunity to profess their Communication, Networking and Internship Opportunities skills as 'Email' is a common method for students to connect with the advancements in this era of Technology. 

The students also learnt about some new features and the protocol to write professional emails that will help the students in their future careers as well as Academic Communication. 

Through this activity, the students had an opportunity to utilize their linguistic skills along with the amalgamation of their technological skills.

Fun with French Word Search Puzzles! 


The French word search puzzle challenged students of Grade VI to look out for the keywords in the grid that allowed them to evaluate their recall and their level of French knowledge. It introduced the students to important vocabulary. This also led to increased retention of content-specific vocabulary.

The benefits of word search puzzles were the improvement of spelling, development of problem-solving capability and vocabulary building, alleviating anxiety, boosts cognitive skills, helps to increase processing speed and also helps in pattern recognition.

The students performed this activity in a mixed-ability group and they thoroughly enjoyed it. 

Fun with Beads

Grade VI students understood the concept of ratio and proportion by using real-life examples such as sharing candies and dividing a pizza. The students were provided with beads of different colours. They were divided into small groups. They were asked to count the total number of beads and record the data. The students compared the number of beads of different colours within their set. By engaging in this hands-on activity, Grade VI students gained a deeper understanding of ratio and proportion while having fun with colourful beads.
