Delhi Public School Lava, Nagpur organized the Annual Science and Maths Exhibition “NERDNIA” for classes IV to VIII on 28th February 2024,on the occasion of National Science Day. The theme of 2024 National Science Day was “Indigenous Technology for Viksit Bharat.” 


The exhibition witnessed great enthusiasm and blooming participation from children , who had the unique opportunity of exploring as well as expressing their creative scientific ideas in the form of activities, models and projects. The event gave a diverse hands-on experience to children, wherein they could translate the theoretical scientific and mathematical principles into the mode of application in the form of observable phenomena. This event led the children from the realms of theory into the arena of practicum.


The students displayed their creative scientific potential in diverse arenas revolving around the theme of Indigenous Technology for Viksit Bharat, students displayed their thoughts in the field of global warming, agriculture and food security, sources of energy and their conservation, transport and communication, disaster management, health, robotics and engineering sciences. Students were at their innovative best as they designed their own automobile, mechanical arm, motorboats, metal detectors, rural air conditioners, earthquake impact detectors to unique designs for tapping alternative sources of energy and new ways to conserve the conventional ones. The event in itself ignited the scientific curiosity in children and gave them a platform to give concrete dimensions to their ideas, from the zone of imagination to realism.


The exhibition not only provided an opportunity to children to execute their scientific ideas but also gave them a platform to demonstrate their ideas to a large group of science teachers and fellow students. Based on the feedback and suggestive ideas of the science teachers, the children gained a wider and newer perspective on the further development of their project. The students also got the unique experience of demonstrating and explaining their ideas to a wide variety of audiences which further enhanced their confidence, communication and interpersonal skills, overall, a boost to their personality. The exhibition didn’t only kindle the scientific lamp of inquisitiveness in children but it also gave an exposure to a wide variety of scientific concepts, principles and their application.

 On the whole, Nerdnia was a great learning experience for both the students and teachers alike. It seemed that the world of science practically came alive, through the blooming projects of our young student innovators.
