UNIT: Writing
Aim
In this unit, students will learn how to write for different personal and socially relevant audiences including lists, text messages and form filling.
Student Context
This unit can be delivered at any beginner level to teach the rules of writing appropriately e.g. use of capital letters, punctuation spelling and grammar rules. It can also be used as a revision exercise to help with writing techniques.
Prior Learning
Students may have some prior knowledge of spelling and grammar techniques but it is not essential. This unit has been designed so that students with no prior knowledge can acquire reading and writing skills.
Learning Outcomes
Write some familiar words for different purposes.
Transcribe simple information in specific order.
Write for different personal and socially relevant audiences.
Use some rules of writing appropriately.

At the end of this unit, students will be able to:
use words associated with food.
write a list for food shopping.
recognise the use of lists for other purposes.
respond to a text message with appropriate use of capital letters, full stops, accurate grammar and spelling.
understand key words used in forms
complete a simple form.
