Lesson 2: Tea

Prior Knowledge

Students should have letter recognition skills. This unit has been designed so that students with a little prior knowledge can develop their reading skills.

Learning Intentions

In this lesson you will:

  • read a piece of text about a familiar Irish product and

  • complete a cloze exercise based on the reading text.

The Barry's Tea logo.

Barry’s tea is made in Cork.

James Barry started the company in 1901.

Until 1960 the tea was sold from a shop in Cork City.

Now every supermarket in Ireland sells Barry’s tea.

You can buy Barry’s tea in over 60 countries in the world.

Most of the tea is from Africa. Tea from Africa works well with Irish water.
