UNIT: Listening and Speaking

Aim

In this unit, students will be able to actively engage in discussion to support development of oral and listening skills as well as build confidence. They will also be able to explore ideas and new vocabulary that is relevant and appropriate to a personal situation orally.

Student Context

This unit can be delivered at any beginner level to teach the rules of listening appropriately. It can also be used as a revision exercise to help with listening techniques.

Prior Learning

Students may need some prior knowledge of spelling and grammar and additional vocabulary. This unit has been designed so that students with no prior knowledge can develop their listening skills.

Learning Outcomes

  • To listen to obtain information.

  • Explore ideas and new vocabulary that is relevant and appropriate to a personal situation.

  • Express opinions and feelings in response to familiar and / or personal situations.
