The start of the school year has been incredibly promising, it is a heartwarming blend of community spirit and positive energy. This year's kicked-off was infused with purpose and unity, beginning with a meaningful prayer garden event where the staff prayed for our students and blessings for the year ahead. The partnership with families has already fostered a supportive atmosphere, reflected in the enthusiastic and optimistic attitudes of both students and teachers. We are looking forward to the Fiesta Friday family social event to further strengthen these bonds of community. With regular staff and team meetings on the horizon, alongside family-oriented events, the foundation for a successful school year is firmly in place.

ASVAB- The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. It is administered annually to more than one million military applicants, high school, and post-secondary students.
Why does DRA give the ASVAB test?
Career Exploration: The ASVAB is not just a military entrance exam; it's also a comprehensive career exploration tool. Schools use it to help students identify their strengths and interests in various career fields, including civilian jobs, which can help guide their future educational and career choices.
Skill Assessment: The test evaluates a range of skills and aptitudes, such as mathematics, science, and verbal abilities. Schools may use the ASVAB to assess students' academic strengths and weaknesses, providing insights into areas where they may need additional support or could excel.
Military Recruitment: For students interested in joining the military, the ASVAB is a required test for enlistment. Schools often offer the test as a convenient way for these students to meet military entrance requirements.
Educational Planning: The results can help schools tailor educational programs and resources to better meet the needs of their students. For example, a student with high technical scores might be encouraged to explore STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) courses or careers.
Encouraging Post-Secondary Options: By offering the ASVAB, schools can expose students to a wider range of post-secondary opportunities, including military service, vocational training, and college pathways.

Most four-year universities and colleges require prospective students to take the SAT or ACT and meet minimum score requirements as a part of their application process. Each school has a unique admissions process and weighs standardized test scores differently.
Generally, standardized test scores indicate a learner’s college readiness, help determine their placement in college courses and can inform merit-based scholarship awards.
The SAT and ACT share several similarities. Colleges and universities often accept both exams as part of their admissions processes and to determine scholarship awards for incoming students.
Both the SAT and ACT evaluate similar topics, including reading, writing and mathematics. On both tests, the reading and writing and language sections are entirely passage-based. These sections measure students’ proficiency in key areas that help determine college readiness.
Neither exam penalizes students for incorrect or blank answers. Both award points for correct answers only.
Although the SAT and ACT share many similarities, some key distinctions are worth noting. Below are some key differences between the two tests:
Scoring scales and ranges. SAT scores range from 400 to 1600, and ACT composite scores range from 1 to 36.
Test format and sections. The SAT includes reading, writing and language and math. The ACT includes English, math, reading, science and an optional essay.
Test length and number of questions. The SAT is two hours and 14 minutes long. The ACT is two hours and 55 minutes without the essay section; with the essay, it is three hours and 35 minutes long.
Science section. Unlike the ACT, the SAT does not have a dedicated science section.
Math sections. Both tests cover arithmetic, algebra I and II, geometry and trigonometry, but the SAT also covers data analysis, while the ACT covers probability and statistics.
