Hierarchy settings module is used to set the hierarchy for employees, i.e. assigning employees under a hierarchy or higher-authority. A newly joined employee will be set hierarchy with the higher-authority of the organisation by default. Set hierarchy page is used to perform such hierarchy assignments.

In Hierarchy Settings, user can perform the following actions:
1.Add an unassigned employee to a hierarchy
2.Remove an employee from a hierarchy
3.Remove all employees under a hierarchy
4.Replace or Substitute an employee
5.View the hierarchy of an employee
After registering a new user, he/she should be assigned under a hierarchy to access leave and other services. User can use set hierarchy module for this purpose. Not only new user is assigned but also employees who were removed from hierarchy can also be added under any hierarchy.
Step 1: To add an unassigned employee to a hierarchy or higher-authority, select the higher-authority from the employees list on the left-side of the work-area
Step 2: On selecting the higher-authority, upper hierarchy of the selected authority shall be displayed in-line with the authority's images and lower hierarchy of the selected authority shall be displayed in the "hierarchy under employees" heading along with the count of employees assigned to the authority.
Step 3: Find the unassigned employee from the unassigned employees list and click on the "Add from this hierarchy" button displayed against the employee. On clicking it, the respective unassigned employee shall be removed from the "Unassigned Employees" list and shall be added to "Hierarchy Under Employees" list.
Step 4: Save the hierarchy by clicking the Save Button available on the top-right corner of the "Hierarchy Under Employees" list
To prevent any employee from accessing WFM (in case they discontinue from job), user can remove the employee from hierarchy. User can also remove an employee for assigning him to some other authority.
Step 1: To remove an employee under a hierarchy or higher-authority, select the higher-authority from the employees list on the left-side of the work-area.
Step 2: On selecting the higher-authority, upper hierarchy of the selected authority shall be displayed in-line with the authority's images and lower hierarchy of the selected authority shall be displayed in the "hierarchy under employees" heading along with the count of employees assigned to the authority.
Step 3: For removing an employee under a hierarchy, click on the "Remove from this hierarchy" button against corresponding employee displayed in "Hierarchy Under Employees" list and click on Save Button available at the top-right corner of the "Hierarchy Under Employees" list to save the removal process.
Note : User cannot remove employee having multi-level lower hierarchy.
For removing all employees under a hierarchy, user can make use of the "Remove All" option. For this, select the higher-authority from the employee list on the left-side of the work-area whose lower hierarchy need to be removed. Then click on the "Remove All" option available below higher-authority's name. Thereafter a confirmation message will be displayed; click "OK" to proceed removal process.
To remove an employee having lower single level hierarchy, user need to remove all his lower level employees. In such case user can make use of remove all employees functionality.
Note: User shall not be allowed to remove all employees under an authority having multi-level lower hierarchies using remove or remove all functionalities. In such a case if the user need to unassign or remove all employees under any authority having multilevel lower hierarchies, remove all the employee from each level and go for the authority.
To unassign an employee without removing his lower level hierarchies, user can use the "Substitute Hierarchy" functionality. Substitute hierarchy functionality replaces or substitutes an employee with some other authority; so that the lower hierarchy of the removed employee shall be assigned to the replaced authority.
For replacing an employee, user need to select the employee from employee list on the left-side of the work-area. Then click on the "Change Hierarchy" option available below employee's name. A list of employees with whom the selected employee can be replaced shall be listed under "Change Hierarchy". Click on the "Set new hierarchy" button against the corresponding employee for selecting him and click on the "Save" button below the detailed of the employee to complete the replacement process.
On replacing:
an employee having substitutes, upper and lower hierarchy of the replaced employee shall be assigned to the substitute.
an employee with a subordinate having lower hierarchy, hierarchy of replaced employee and lower hierarchy of subordinate shall be assigned to the substitute
Note: User can't replace top-most hierarchy with any substitute.
To view the hierarchy of an employee, select the employee from the employee list in the left side of the work area. By doing so, the employee shall be displayed in the top of the work area. In-line with the employee, his upper hierarchy shall be displayed in ascending order. On the right side of the work area under the "Hierarchy Under Employee" heading, the lower hierarchy of the selected employee shall be listed. Along with the heading "Hierarchy Under Employee", displayed is the count of lower employees under the selected employee.
Unassigned users are employees/users who are not assigned to any authority. Such users are listed under the heading "Unassigned Employees" in set hierarchy page.
Unassigned employees shall not be having any privileges in WFM other than profile and dashboard. For accessing leave and punch pages an employee need to be assigned to some authority.
A newly created employee is considered as unassigned. He/she shall be added to a hierarchy using the Add from this hierarchy option.
