Summer/Spring/Winter Break/          E-Learning Challenges

Maple P.E. would like students (and families) to continue to

challenge themselves to be active over long breaks away from Maple School.

Summer Break Challenge

This summer, we have created a safe and healthy summer challenge to keep students active and promote year-round physical activity when students are not in school.  Anyone participating, please be sure to use the correct form and technique, just like in class during any of our fitness activities.  Our staff has demonstrated all of the exercises listed on the challenge sheet on numerous occasions (all exercises are demonstrated before all class activities).  Maple students have had prior experience with these movements/exercises.  Please feel free to check out our videos under the "Fitness Related Videos" section for additional fitness activity ideas during summer break.

The Summer Break Challenge is attached below. It is labeled "20-minute Home Workout" and can be used daily as a way for students to strive towards being physically active for at least 60 minutes each day throughout the course of their summer break (year-round daily physical activity is the ultimate lifelong fitness goal).  The best part of the "20-Minute Home Workout" is that no equipment is needed, and multiple rounds can be performed to reach the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's recommended 60 minutes of physical activity per day.

Enjoy the challenge, and see you in the fall!

Spring Break Challenge

This Spring Break students may decide to challenge themselves in three areas of wellness.

The three areas of focus for this Spring Break are:

*Healthy Eating (overall daily nutritional needs met)

ChooseMyPlate.gov

*Proper amount of Sleep (9-11 hours; Middle School Recommendation)

Sleep Times by Age Group

*60 minutes of Physical Activity (daily recommended amount)

Physical Activity Guidelines
