Priority Standards

MU:Pr6.1.8b: Demonstrate performance decorum (for example, stage presence, attire, behavior) and audience etiquette appropriate for venue, purpose, context, and style.

MU:Pr4.1.6c: When analyzing selected music, read and identify by name or function standard musical symbols (for example, rhythm, pitch, articulation, dynamics).

MU:Pr4.1.Ib: Demonstrate or analyze, using music reading skills, how compositional devices of musical works impact and inform prepared or improvised performances.

MU:Pr5.1.8: Apply teacher-provided criteria to critique individual performances of a varied repertoire of music selected for performance, identify practice strategies to address performance challenges, and refine the performances.

MU:Pr6.1.Ia: Demonstrate technical accuracy and expressive qualities, as well as an understanding of expressive intent, in prepared and improvised performances of a varied repertoire of music representing diverse cultures, styles, and genres.

MU:Re9.1.I: Evaluate works and performances based on collaboratively developed criteria, including analysis of the structure and the context.

Grading

It is our belief that every student is capable of achieving high levels of success in vocal music. However, all students are expected to complete all in-class activities and homework.

2250-2500 = A

2000-2250 = B

1750-1999 = C

1500-1749 = D

-1499 = F

SEMESTER 1

2500 points possible as follows:

-Rehearsal Strategies: 900 points total

-Concert: Fall Choral Concert: 200 points

-Performance Tests (Singing/Conducting/Auditioning): 250 points total

-Star Spangled Banner Performance: 50 points

-Choir Notebook: 200 points

-Two (2) Concert Reflection Essays: 50 points each

-Concert: “Winter” Choral Concert: 200 points

-December Performance Tour: 100 points

-Written tests (theory, musicology, etc.): 500 points total

SEMESTER 2

2500 points possible as follows:

-Rehearsal Strategies: 900 points total

-Concert: Pops Concert: 200 points

-Comprehensive Singing Test: 100 points

-Other Performance Tests: 100 points total

-Choir Notebook: 200 points

-Two (2) Concert Reflection Essays: 50 points each

-Concert: Awards Night: 200 points

-Graduation Performance: 100 points

-IHSA Organizational Contest: 100 points

-Written tests (theory, musicology, etc.): 500 points total
