Dance Company is a performing group at Deerfield High School. Freshmen through senior students who are interested in all types of dance can take part and develop technical skills, and increase their knowledge of technique, choreography, and production aspects of a dance performance. Dance Company performs in an annual spring dance concert, which includes student-choreographed work, as well as professional guest choreographers. Dance company is an amazing community where everyone can feel comfortable being themselves. It provides dancers with leadership skills, dance techniques, and builds friendships.
The dance program at Deerfield high school was created in 1966. At first, it was called Dance Club, and then it turned into Dance Company. Back in 1966, Dance Club was composed of advanced and junior advanced dance. The members were required to audition to prove their dance ability. They performed annually at the dance show in front of the school.
The Dance Club also used to perform in synchronized swimming. They would demonstrate their creative abilities in the water by swimming in sync.
