FOUNDATIONS OF COMPUTER NETWORKING
INFORMATION SESSION
Date of Conduct: September 21, 2026 (Monday)
Course Description:
This foundational webinar introduces the core principles, architectures, and protocols that power modern computer networks. Designed for beginners and IT enthusiasts, the session breaks down how devices communicate, how data travels across local and global networks, and how essential network hardware functions. Participants will gain a clear, practical understanding of fundamental networking concepts—including OSI and TCP/IP models, IP addressing, and basic troubleshooting—laying a solid ground for further studies or careers in IT, systems administration, and cybersecurity.
Objectives:
Explain Core Networking Architecture: Identify the functions of key hardware components (routers, switches, hubs) and map data flow across the OSI and TCP/IP reference models.
Understand IP Addressing and Protocols: Differentiate between IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, subnets, and fundamental protocols such as TCP, UDP, DNS, and DHCP.
Perform Basic Troubleshooting: Apply standard diagnostic command-line tools (such as ping, traceroute, and ipconfig/ifconfig) to identify and resolve common network connectivity issues.
