SADDLE UP
LQ Track and Field completed their first meet of the year at the Saddle Up Invitational at Vista Murrieta High School Saturday. The Blackhawks competed against 31 schools in both Varsity and Frosh/Soph divisions for girls and boys. The Blackhawks compiled 43 overall medals between all levels and will compete this Saturday in the Palomino Relays at Valley View High School.

Saveyra Guerrero: 3rd place 1600 meters (5:26.81), 5th place 800 meters (2:28.10)

Martin Torres- Sandoval: 1st place 1600 meters (4:31.69), 3rd place 800 meters (2:02.19)
Kameron Hawkins: 2nd place triple jump (43'-11")
Ty Murga: 4th place shot put (44'-10.25")
Frosh Soph:
Major Hinchen set a LQHS frosh-soph record in two events. He placed 1st in the 100 meters (11.12) and placed 3rd in the 200 meters (22.78)
Angel Lerena set a LQHS frosh-soph record in two events. He placed 1st in the 400 meters (51.63) and anchored the 4x400m relay team to a first place finish in 3:37.24.
Aiden Simo finished first in the long jump (19'-9")
PALOMINO RELAYS
LQHS T&F competed at the Palomino Relays Saturday along with three other valley schools. LQHS competed in the Big School Division and took home first place for the boy's team and 2nd place for the girls team. The boys long jump and triple jump relays set SCHOOL RECORDS in the events along with first place finishes.

COUGAR CLASSIC-Beaumont High School
At the Beaumont Cougar Classic, the LQHS track and field team won their second track invitational of the year. The frosh soph boys took first while the varsity boys, varsity girls and frosh soph girls took home second place. There were over 20 teams who participated.
The Blackhawks are 2-0 (1-0 in DEL) will compete against Palm Desert on Tuesday and will compete at the Mt. Carmel Asics Invitational on Saturday.

#1 400 meters: Angel Lorena break his new F/S record just a bit to go 51.47 taking first place
#2 4x100 meter team of Norton, Murdica, Simo and Hinchen take down a pretty solid record at 43.95
#3 3200m F/S record WAS M. Torres but NOW owned by Luis Martinez (10:01.12)
#4 Long Jump record claimed by Aidan Simo at 21'-0.25"!!! Best jump of ANYONE at the meet today (including VARSITY).

MT CARMEL ASICS CLASSIC
The LQHS track and field team traveled to Mt Carmel High School 3/23/24 and competed against ONE HUNDRED high schools. LQHS (2-0 DEL) will compete at Palm Springs HS on Wednesday.
The Distance Medley Team (4k meters) broke the school record during this event and are hopeful to get into the prestigious Arcadia Invitational Track Meet April 5-6 with their qualifying time.
There were three different divisions that were based on qualifying entry times. Top five places medaled.

Major Hinchen: 100 meters 10.91 placed 9th with the fastest time in the Coachella Valley so far this year.
INLAND EMPIRE CHAMPIONSHIPS
LQHS track and field team traveled to the Inland Empire Championships at Vista Murrieta High School on Saturday. Kameron Hawkins took third in the triple jump and set a new LQHS school record with a jump of 44'-06.5". The frosh soph boys team placed third out of over 50 high school teams and broke five LQHS frosh soph records.

2023 Got off to a great start at San Gorgonio High School/ Sparta Relays
SCHOOL RECORD broken in the triple jump by Hawkins, Miller and Do with 116'-08" breaking the '19 record of 110'-01" (Kersey, Smith, Egson)
LQ boys took home another 2nd place while the girls team took home their FOURTH consecutive Meet Championship trophy LQ take home 66 medals as a team!

You MUST be cleared with a sports physical and athletic clearance to participate (https://lqathletics.com/athletic-clearance-information/ ) AND you MUST BE REGISTERED (registration will be offered during office hours starting Wednesday November 15th in room 708.
Registration dates: All registrations will be done during office hours up until our first practice in room 708. Do not send paper work to coaches any other time for any reason. All papers needed are at bottom of this web page. GRADE SHEET MUST BE SIGNED BY a Parent/Guardian.
Veterans: November 15th and November 30th office hours. Added 12/19 and 1/10.
Rookies: November 30th, December 6th, 7th and 19th. Last chance 1/10 during office hours.

Check in for practice begins at 4PM Friday December 8th and Monday December 12th. There may be some "optional" workouts offered over winter break. We will resume "mandatory" practices the week of January 8th which will also offer 6:45AM Wt room workouts on Wednesdays and Fridays. These will be MANDATORY for Varsity Athletes that do not have a wt training class through mid February. Weight training is "optional" for the rest of the team and is also used to make up missed practices so you are eligible to compete.
Make sure you check with the Athletic Department to see if you are cleared. If you can't get in to see you personal doctor try a chiropractor such as Dr. Dosen or Gonstead Chiropractic for a "sports physical".
