The B PROJECT has 4 flagship projects under its wing (Project COOL, Project REACH, Project SPACE and Project COPY). These projects’ main goal is to reach out and help out students through the programs on initiating and giving of Free Wifi, Sanitary and Hygiene Kits.
Students who didn’t have access to internet due to poverty did not have to go anymore to the house of their classmates who have net connection or to go to their barangay hall to have possible access. Their acquisition of knowledge and skills have become more significant because they learned to be more independent and most specially, they have realized that learning can be done virtually. For parents who were hard up in providing wifi to their children due to financial limitation, the program was a big help. Likewise, the giving of sanitary and hygiene kits to students made them more anxious of their wellness and total wellbeing. They have learned that the best way to combat the virus is being clean at all times. Also, the teachers have greatly profited from the program. The online teaching has given them ample opportunities to learn and be technologically fluent. Who could ever imagine that virtual learning is possible. This is the good that the pandemic has given them, to concretize virtual learning.
Most importantly, other community members including the siblings or parents of the beneficiaries benefited from the program because they are also recipients of the free access to internet even the use of hygiene kits due to sharing. One threshold of every school is to ensure its strong partnership with the community as its stakeholders. The main concern is the education of the youth. This is manifested by their hard work and determination in finding innovative ways to guarantee that students will really learn.
The B Project serves as one of its frontline initiatives, the program brings together teachers, parents, and community members to respond to the needs of improving the basic education in the New Normal of Education. With the banner of the Western Cagayan School of Arts and Trades (WCSAT)as the pilot school in town, the B Project is such a virtuous undertaking to really prove that the said institution is a vanguard to promoting a quality, clean, and timely ways of educating the youth despite the challenges brought about by the virus.
The B Project highlights the engagement of the stakeholders from the community and the private sector in improving the school’s learning instruction in time of uncertainties. Thus, varied volunteers such as the different agencies, private individuals, alumni, and non- government organizations are at front even from the very start, with the confidence that the majority will surely extend help to the institution that catapulted many Lasameños to prominence in their chosen career, resources for the B Project in WCSAT were acquired through the generous donations made by the different sectors of the Local Government of Lasam, alumni, parents, and business owners.
The B project aims to provide free and accessible internet connection, and hygiene and sanitary kits to students of WCSAT. It specifically aims to;
1. engage learners in virtual classroom to ensure continuity of learning.
2. inculcate the value of proper hygiene and cleanliness.
3. address students’ difficulties real-time.
4. bridge the gap in education brought by the pandemic
The B project was implemented from September 2021 to June 2022. Details of Partnership and Community Participation, the clientele of the B Project were the teachers, students, and parents of the Western Cagayan School of Arts and Trades. These targeted students were identified by the school-based from the result of the survey conducted by the school at the start of the School Year.
The B Project was conceived in order to enhance the learning outcomes and promote safety and cleanliness among students and teachers. Under its wing is Project COOL(Convenient Outlook and Optimum Leeway): An Innovative Workplan for Ensuring Internet Connectivity for Students in the Science Technology and Engineering (STE) Program), this project is for STE students and achievement level through the presence of internet connectivity while answering their modules/LAS and or during online classes. This project covered 25 learners who cannot afford to buy their own source of internet. The prepaid WIFI were used by the selected STE students enrolled in the school. Wi-Fi has a positive impact on learning and students are increasingly using Wi-Fi-enabled devices for educational purposes. Having a Wi-Fi connections for students means leveraging WIFI-enabled devices for educational purposes and bringing Wi-Fi connection in their places would play an important role in delivering an effective and engaging learning experience.
The work plan provided sufficient appropriate supplementary source of internet connectivity for the STE students who are enrolled at the Western Cagayan School of Arts and Trades for the School Year 2021-2022. It also provided the students an avenue to conduct research and to attend classes online if the need arises in order to improve performance. Students, like everybody else, are expected to connect to these devices and other technologies they regularly use anywhere – including their educational activities. This means that schools, not only need to be able to connect their own technologies, but also need to have the flexibility to connect their students’ so as not to hinder their own, unique learning.
Responding to the Basic Education-Learning Continuity Plan of the Department of Education in this time of pandemic is a collaborative effort of both internal and external stakeholders. Another project under the B Projects’ wing is Project REACH ((Remote E-learning Assistance through Collaboration for the Holistic development of learners) which is aligned to two of its four pillars namely: improving the learning environment and engagement of stakeholders for support and collaboration. This addressed the learning challenges and difficulties amid the pandemic as it provided free and accessible internet connection. Learners in Viga were able to join online distance learning addressing in return our goal of providing a quality learning engagement through synchronous and asynchronous learning process.
This yielded a higher or increase in academic performance of learners in their science subject. In general, our shared vision of providing responsive education and developing holistic learners in this new normal is attainable through this workplan. Growing up in a clean and safe environment is every child’s right. Access to clean water, basic toilets, and good hygiene practices not only keeps children thriving, but also gives them a healthier start in life. Hence, providing a conducive and safe spaces for our learners is a crucial role that each school has to carry.
Another B project sub wing is Project SPACE ( (Strengthening awareness through Public health education in order to Attain safe return to physical premises and positively Conform with the changes in the Educational landscape)which aims to provide health and hygiene kits that would help students to stay protected, slow down the transmission of virus and strengthening the basic core of the TVL and TVE program which is maintaining and observing proper hygiene and clean workplace. Furthermore, the project aims to help students to have a healthier life, boost their immunity, and help them in their growth and development. Through this, it will allow students to get rid of their absences and increase their school participation. With help of this project, students will increase their presence in school and participate activity in class discussion hence, this would be of help in the holistic approach in the development of sound mind and body among students.
The last but significant sub project is the Project COPY, this aspires to aid the school and to the teachers in delivering quality instructions to the learners. This initiative targeted the generosity of the Alumni and the stakeholders since the modality is modular, bulks of bond paper and printer were very much needed. It is sad to note that the beginning of the pandemic caused necessary learning loss to our learners due to the ratio of giving modules to the learners. It was a one pack for two students who live near to each other. Learning was impossible.
The Project Copy, the donations of bond paper and printer was a big augmentation to the school’s delivery of quality education. The students were not anymore shortchanged when students were given individually their own modules.
The B Project is monitored and evaluated through an institutional made monitoring and evaluation tool. These tools were made in order to monitor the progress of the projects hence, through it, it will also address the needed points to improve the project and to provide quality services for the teachers and students. Evaluation of the projects were done every grading period.
The B project aims to continue providing quality and accessible tools to further help students achieve greater heights. Furthermore, the administration, faculty and staff, and stakeholders is eying to expand the Project in order to foster the needs of each student and teachers in terms of strengthening the curriculum, clean and conducive learning environment, and technological needs.
One threshold of every school is to ensure its strong partnership with the community as its stakeholders. The main concern is the education of the youth. This is manifested by their hard work and determination in finding innovative ways to guarantee that students will really learn.
