Announcement: The National Uploading and Validation of the WASH in Schools (WinS) Program for SY 2025-2026 is now open.
A learning station is a designated area or setup in a classroom or learning environment where students engage in specific activities, tasks, or lessons—usually as part of a rotation model or group work.
Focused Activity or Theme
Each station targets a specific skill, subject, or topic. For example:
A reading station
A math puzzle station
A science experiment corner
Student-Centered
Learning stations promote active, hands-on, and collaborative learning. Students often work in small groups or independently.
Rotational Format
Students rotate from one station to another after a set amount of time, enabling them to experience various types of content and instructional methods.
Differentiated Instruction
Teachers can tailor each station to different ability levels or learning styles, allowing more personalized learning.
Classroom Management Strategy
They help break up long lessons, keep students engaged, and allow teachers to work with small groups while the rest of the class is productively occupied.
Example in a DepEd Context:
In Philippine public schools, learning stations might be used in:
Multigrade classrooms: where a teacher handles multiple year levels simultaneously
Literacy programs: with stations for phonics, comprehension, vocabulary, and writing
ALS programs: with stations focused on life skills and foundational competencies
