Professor Yukiko Kawamoto received her Ph.D. from King’s College London, United Kingdom, and is currently Associate Professor in Roman Studies in the Department of Classics, Nagoya University, Japan. Among her many awards, she was a Rome Awardee at The British School at Rome, a Postdoctoral fellow at Ludwig-Maximilians Universität München, and a Visiting Fellow at Jesus College, University of Oxford. Her research has focused on Roman architectural, cultural, and social history, using textual and archaeological evidence. Her current research concerns the designs of Roman gardens and how they influenced later European gardens.

历史上规范时间的方式和路径有哪些?帝国框架下的时间和城邦的时间是否有本质上的区别?对比不同时间框架下的社会能给我们带来哪些历史启示?不同文化之间的构建和规范时间的方式如何相互影响?个体对时间的认知是否因社会、经济、政治地位不同而存在差异或变动?本次圆桌论坛采用以小见大的角度,以对话为主要形式,期待两河流域、古埃及、古印度、犹太、古希腊罗马、中世纪、中国等等不同文化或不同历史时段研究者们之间的知识碰撞。

报告摘要


货币在古罗马帝国的经济和政治生活中举足轻重。印有统治者头像的钱币是最有力的政治宣传工具,也充当着改朝换代的风向标。货币保证了高效的帝国税收,也维持着国家军事政治机器的巨大开支,而金银铜之间的交换也支撑起了小到集市大到长线贸易等不同规模的经济活动。本次讲座简要介绍罗马帝国从公元前一世纪到公元七世纪的钱币史变迁,我们将着重介绍钱币体系的变化及其与帝国政治经济命运之间的关联。
