Professor Yukiko Kawamoto received her Ph.D. from King’s College London, United Kingdom, and is currently Associate Professor in Roman Studies in the Department of Classics, Nagoya University, Japan. Among her many awards, she was a Rome Awardee at The British School at Rome, a Postdoctoral fellow at Ludwig-Maximilians Universität München, and a Visiting Fellow at Jesus College, University of Oxford. Her research has focused on Roman architectural, cultural, and social history, using textual and archaeological evidence. Her current research concerns the designs of Roman gardens and how they influenced later European gardens.

报告摘要
货币在古罗马帝国的经济和政治生活中举足轻重。印有统治者头像的钱币是最有力的政治宣传工具，也充当着改朝换代的风向标。货币保证了高效的帝国税收，也维持着国家军事政治机器的巨大开支，而金银铜之间的交换也支撑起了小到集市大到长线贸易等不同规模的经济活动。本次讲座简要介绍罗马帝国从公元前一世纪到公元七世纪的钱币史变迁，我们将着重介绍钱币体系的变化及其与帝国政治经济命运之间的关联。
