Guest Entrance

Capitol Avenue, S.E. between Pollard Blvd, S.E. and Fulton Street, S.W.

There is major construction on almost all of the roads around Capitol Avenue. The police have blocked off safe drop-off from cars because of the construction.

Please do not attempt to drop off people from Capitol Avenue., Pollard Blvd., or Fulton St.

The dirt area to the West of the Convocation Center is a huge "Under Construction Zone." It is a future parking deck. Unfortunately, this parking deck is not yet ready for our graduation ceremonies.

All bags are subject to search. Guests are encouraged to return unauthorized bags to their vehicles. Georgia State University will NOT provide a bag check station that is secure and monitored to allow fans to check bags in and out during the event.

Prohibited Items:

For the safety of attendees, the following items and activities are prohibited at the Convocation Center:

Artificial noisemakers, animals, backpacks, outside food and drink, fireworks, balloons, bicycles, skateboards, scooters and rollerblades, coolers, illegal substances, laser pointers, flag poles and sticks, strollers in seats, video cameras, weapons, large signs. All cell phones/electronic devices must be silenced prior to entering the convocation center.

Concession stands will be open and take cash or electronic payments. Soft drinks, water will be served along with a limited food menu. No alcohol will be sold at any of DCSD's Graduations. Concession stands are on the same level guests enter from Gate 2.

Georgia State Convocation Center Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Accommodations:

ADA seating is available at the top of the sections on the 100 level. From the plaza and concourse there are not staircases in the path of these seats. ADA seating/parking is limited and will be available on a first-come-first-served basis.

They told us that when guests enter from Gate 2, take either direction (left or right) and enter the center of the building. This is the level where wheelchairs and people with limited mobility may sit. One guest may sit with them. Other guests and family may try to sit just below them or above them in the regular stands.

At the ticket gate, if a guest needs a wheelchair, GSU Staff have a few wheelchairs to move guests inside the stadium to accessible seats.

A lot of Walking:

The GSU Convocation Center is up a hill from every direction (a little bit steeper in elevation from our North Dekalb Stadium to Bulldog Plaza). It is a lot of walking to get to Gate 2. Guests will not be allowed to enter from the other entrances. Also remember, no close drop-off locations exist at this facility. Construction is heavy on all streets. Expect rough pavement and sidewalks. Once inside Gate 2, regular guest seats are either upstairs or downstairs. We recommend guests wear comfortable shoes for walking.

Graduates should consider wearing comfortable shoes. Graduates will be walking, a lot. Graduates will be walking about a quarter-mile during the practice and ceremony. If they are meeting family to return home, graduates will be walking up the hill, around the building to Gate 2.
