Adulting Day

A Senior Teachers Event

Chamblee High School's first post-pandemic Adulting Day on Thursday, March 9, 2023 was declared a success. Ms. Leila Warren and team organized topics, volunteer guest speakers, parents, the Senior Teachers, the Senior Sponsors, and then the rest of the faculty, staff, and students for this momentous event. Adulting Day was designed to give seniors the chance to hear from a wide variety of speakers on a plethora of topics specifically needed during the transition from teenager to adulthood.

How do you act in an interview, an adult space, a professional space, and a collegiate space? How do I set a formal table and use the correct utensil with all these things on the table? How is an interview at a meal different than an interview without a  meal? Should I open the door or pull out the chair and in what situation? How do I buy my first car? How do I plan my daily meals, and groceries, and afford to host a small party? How do I rent an apartment? How is time management different as an adult? What's different between a job and a career? My resume is empty, so how do I fill it with things that are true and will get me hired? What is important to know when signing contracts? What's with the 'free' credit card offers? What is a FAFSA? Why do I need a budget? How do I register to vote? How and when and where do I vote? What should my resume look like? What is a loan, interest, and downpayment? What do I not even know to ask?

The students got to pick their seminar topics, move throughout the building. Senior Sponsors arranged an "Adult Choices" Lunch from Jason's Deli. After lunch, students got to "recess" on the practice field before attending more seminars.
