Exploring the Channels of Occupation

The important thing of earning a living is the opportunity and ability of one’s own. Anyone, who earns his living according to the market demand, usually gets a chance to be successful. Those who are able to develop their occupation should have these characteristics:

      1. Be an expert in the current work: Their skillful job will provide a source of knowledge, idea and opportunity, such as be skillful in cooking, dressmaking, electrical repairing, plumbing, wood working, painting, etc. These experts are able to start their own business. For example, someone who used to work in a garment factory returned to his hometown after retirement. He may apply his knowledge and experience to start his own business as a dressmaker in town.

           2. Personal preference and interest: Someone who likes or is interested in a task such as dry-flower making, drawing or painting may start to work in this field and later it can become his main occupation.

           3. Listening and learning from various sources: Someone can start his main occupation by sharing some creative ideas with others. He may already have an idea but may not be confident about it. After he talks to another intellectual person, he may be able to analyze his plan for the future before starting the real project.

           4. Study from documents: They can study from books, magazines, newspapers, a television, a radio, and a video. These are sources of knowledge and information that can make them have creative ideas.

           5. Information, statistics, reports and messages from the government and private agencies:

These sources may include the National Social and Economic Plan. One who earns his living should pay attention to the information which he may use to decide for his occupation.
