1. Self-development by following His Majesty the King’s guidelines:

1.1 Knowledge and ability: His Majesty the King has emphasized on this notion that one should have the knowledge and ability to work together with high disciplines. These factors will make tasks successful.

1.2 Application: His Majesty the King has emphasized that if a person would like his work to be done, he should follow the following steps:

1) Considering every detail before starting the task

2) Keeping the middle path in mind. This will help the task to be done with an appropriate outcome.

3) Considering the area and feedbacks that might happen.

4) Trying to link some related academic theories with the most appropriate way.

1.3 Consideration: His Majesty the King has made the following suggestions :

1) Use your thought to acquire knowledge. Then the task can be done without any mistake.

2) Do the task without bias and based on specific reasons. Then the task will be done effectively and successfully.

1.4 Intellectual thought: His Majesty the King explains:

“Disparaging the others’ ideas and avoiding them are causes for delayed tasks. The tasks may have to start over and over again and end up in failure. The intellectuals should accept other people’s thought that it has often led to successful tasks in the past.” Working is a basic reinforcement of the stable growth of knowledge. Disparaging the other’s idea is just like not to use existing basic knowledge. Nevertheless, there are some other significant factors that can be summarized as follows:

Calmness is someone’s ability to mentally and physically control himself. The ability of physical and mental calmness will provide the power to increase the quality of one’s task.

1.6 Sincerity and Truth: His Majesty the King’s explanations is that:

1) Any person wishing to succeed and make progress in life should accept truth and believe in it. Be sincere to yourselves and others.

2) A person should believe in truth, both in speech and in action. Everyone should practice it strictly.

               1.7 Discipline: His Majesty the King has explained that a disciplined person is the one who respects disciplines, both the thoughts and actions. A person, who doesn’t believe in disciplines although he has the knowledge, strength, good enthusiasm to work, may not be able to finish his task with high performance since he may always be confused about the ways and approaches to get his work done. Therefore, disciplines can be divided into two categories.

1) Physical discipline is to adjust and control one’s manner to be able to acquire new knowledge for success in work.

2) Mental discipline is to restrain one’s thought to reasonable thinking and be able to work with others.

          His Majesty the King has suggested that:

1) Each task should be done in harmony with each other and should be improved at the same time. Therefore, one should prepare himself to work intelligently and corporately with others.

2) Be open minded, firm and reasonable, and believe in public interests.

1.8 Creation and development: His Majesty the King has emphasized that:

1) Creation for development should start from existing knowledge, keeping and trying to improve oneself in academic knowledge or the ability of thinking.

2) Development should slowly be performed with consciousness, without rush. The outcomes will be more stable with better result.

1.9 Work planning: His Majesty the King has suggested that:

1) It is necessary to have a clear plan for every task of the project.

2) Setting up a target, a scope and a clear principle for immediate, correct and appropriate performance.

3) For the success of a big task, everyone should have his ideology and principles in working.

4) Everyone should work honestly and ethically.


2. Self-development under the Buddha’s principles

2.1 Tarn is the alms giving as a principle for self-development in charity and in supporting each other.

2.2 Sil is the moral to keep the body, speech and mind in normal characteristics.

             Do not exploit others, then peace will come to their minds.

2.3 Parijaka is to make sacrifices or donate ones belongings to someone for the benefit of others. Doing ones duty or task should be done for goodness, happiness and the development of living together.

2.4 Archava is being honest to oneself, to other persons, to organization, to friends and to ones’ duty.

2.5 Matava is being gentle and polite, respecting senior people, not being incorrigible or showing ones’ own power.

2.6 Taba is being diligent. A person who is diligent with high endurance can succeed in tasks.

2.7 Akcotha is not being an angry or vengeful person: just hope and live peacefully.

2.8 Ahingsa is to avoid violence and not to exploit others, to respect other people’s lives. Ahingsa is a Sanskrit word which means to avoid being injured. Ahingsa is the core of Buddhism, Hinduism and Zenism. Ahingsa is an Indian philosophy and has been practiced there for more than 800 years before the Buddhist era.

2.9 Khanti is having great endurance. One should endure his task and bad words from other people.

    2.10 Avirotha is not doing wrong things to others. One should know which is wrong or which is right.

3. Virtues and Ethics in Occupation

Good entrepreneurs must have virtues and ethics, especially the responsibility for goods production and service to the market, such as cleanliness, meticulousness, honesty and safety for the consumers’ health or customer service must be safe. For the producers, they should have honesty, prudence, endurance and diligence in order to be stable in his occupational development.
