We were very busy moving back to our renovated library space during October so I decided to combine the October and November library newsletters. If you haven't yet had a chance to stop by our "new" library, please come visit. We'd love to see you!
November is a time to be thankful. I am thankful for so many things in life, including my Dedham High School "family." Wishing all of you Thanksgiving moments that are as sweet as pumpkin pie!

First observed in 1919 and made an official legal holiday in 1938, "Veterans Day continues to be observed on November 11, regardless of what day of the week on which it falls. The restoration of the observance of Veterans Day to November 11 not only preserves the historical significance of the date, but helps focus attention on the important purpose of Veterans Day: A celebration to honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good." Stop by the library to see our display of books in honor of Veterans Day!
Also referred to as National American Indian Heritage Month, this month-long celebration was created to recognize significant contributions the first Americans made to the establishment and growth of the U.S.
For more information about this recognition, please visit https://nativeamericanheritagemonth.gov/.
Please stop by the library to see our selection of books on display!
For November, we asked DHS staff members to suggest favorite books that they would recommend to high school students and Ms. Fares created a beautiful, seasonal display based on these suggestions. If you're in search of a good book to read, stop by the Library to check out these recommendations.
What books are YOU thankful for?
Check out some of these great eBook and audiobook collections organized in our subscription to MLS Commonwealth Collection/Sora. When viewing these lists, use the filter option on the right of the screen to limit your results: preferred format (ebook and/or audiobook), audience, language, and more.

Are you looking for a chilling tale that will keep you up all night? In October, Ms. Fares set up our Books That Go Bump in the Night! display of horror, thriller, and suspense books. Halloween might be over, but there are still lots of great books to check out! A complete list of these books and many other scary stories can be found here.

Freshmen students visited the library with their English classes during October to learn about our library's collection, services, programs, and expectations. Throughout the year, students will visit the library for independent reading needs and to work on collaborative projects with various classes.
Welcome to the Class of 2026! We’re looking forward to working with you this year.
Don't forget to get a Library X-Block Pass!
ALL students need to sign up for a Library X-Block pass in order to visit during X-Block.
We issue 40 passes on a first-come, first-served basis. Stop by in the morning (or even the day before) to sign up for your pass.
Please plan ahead. Passes will not be issued at the beginning of x-block or during the passing time just prior to x-block.
After checking in to your X-Block for attendance, head directly to the library and check in with library staff. Students must also plan to stay in the library during the entire block, unless other arrangements were previously made (i.e. a pass to see a teacher).
