Welcome! I am so happy to be back for another year at DHS (my 9th!) and am looking forward to working with all of you: assisting you with your school projects and assignments, helping you find great books to read, supporting your technology needs, and making you feel welcome at DHS. We are fortunate to continue to have Ms. Fares as our library aide. I can’t wait to see what amazing (virtual) book displays she sets up this year.
Over the summer, I really enjoyed the time spent with my family. My husband, sons (ages 14 & 16), and I learned a lot about beekeeping and set up two hives of honeybees. We won't get any honey this first season, but will hopefully be able to enjoy some next year. Beekeeping is a fascinating hobby, and I love to talk about it, so send any of your questions my way! Of course, another highlight of my summer was having the time to read so many great books, and especially getting to read outdoors. A few of my favorites were The Night Tiger by Yangsze Choo, Kindred by Octavia E. Butler, Illegal by Eoin Colfer & Andrew Donkin (my DHS Summer Reading book), Locke & Key by Joe Hill & Gabriel Rodriguez, The One Memory of Flora Banks by Emily Barr, Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia, and The Sun Down Motel by Simone St. James.
Although the library and our program look a bit different this year, our goal is still to provide you with the books, resources, and support you need. We're planning on bringing the library to you with things like "curbside pickup" book checkouts, our new ebook & audiobook collection, and virtual class visits. We welcome any suggestions you might have on how the library can best support you. Please see the feedback section at the end of this page.

This improved visual interface makes it easier to browse our collection. You can browse by category, see which books are popular at DHS, and check out our latest acquisitions! You can also search for books, place books on hold, see your current checkouts, and submit book reviews. Check it out!
Even though you can't browse our shelves right now, you can still borrow our books! Complete the DHS Library Book Request Form if you are interested in borrowing a book. If you don't know what you want to read, we can make some suggestions. Once you submit the request, we will be in touch about how, when, and where you can pick up your book.

I forgot my password.
As always, the library is your first stop for help with your Chromebook, but don’t come to us -- we’ll come to you! This is to help minimize the number of students in the hallways during class. Whether you are in the building or remote, complete the High School Chromebook Support Request Form if you need help. Library Staff will get back to you with instructions on how to proceed.

Freshman English classes attended virtual library orientation sessions where students learned about our collection, services, programs, and expectations. Throughout the year, students will connect with the library for independent reading needs and to work on collaborative projects with various classes.
Welcome to the Class of 2024! We’re looking forward to working with you this year.
Students and staff met with their Book Discussion Groups on Wednesday, September 30. There were 48 discussion groups representing 27 books! It's been great hearing people talk about what they read over the summer and I really enjoyed meeting with my discussion group to talk about our book, the graphic novel Illegal by Eoin Colfer & Andrew Donkin.
Many thanks to all of our group leaders; their support is instrumental in making this program work.
Even though summer is over, consider trying another book on our summer reading list for your independent reading. There are so many great choices! Get a recommendation from a friend. Try something new. Our 2020 DHS Summer Reading page has the full list of our summer reading titles. You can also click here to see which of these books are available at the DHS Library.
Teachers, contact me if you'd like a demonstration!
If you have any questions about our library program and/or any suggestions on what we can offer, please let us know by completing the appropriate form.
