Greetings from the DHS Library!
Welcome back!
I hope that the beginning of the year has been going well for you. It's been nice to connect with many of you through Summer Reading and Chromebook support. I look forward to working with more of you in the weeks to come.
I want to remind you that library support is still available no matter what learning phase we are in or which cohort you belong to. Please email me if you have questions about library resources, research assistance support, book recommendations, or other library issues. I will do my best to get back to you promptly.
During the Spring of last school year, I sent out a list of Weekly Library Activities for you to try at home. I'm hoping to continue something similar this year, but in a monthly format. I'm a bit behind with sending my September message, but here you go....
In September, we are celebrating the Freedom to Read during Banned Books Week! Typically held during the last week of September, Banned Books Week spotlights current and historical attempts to censor books in libraries and schools. The week brings together the entire book community — librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers of all types — in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular. Even though this is celebrated during one week, this is something we can give our attention to at any time. Try some of these related activities, and send me an email if you do! I'd love to hear from you.
Stay tuned for some other upcoming library news. You'll be receiving another message from me soon about borrowing library books and later some information about a new eBook collection.
Take care and have a great week!
Best regards,
Mrs. Johnson
