I recommend method #2!!!

•Method #1....... method 2 is below the graphic...

  1. Find a photo with lots of good, real color (like a living thing......) ... probably on the internet...

  2. Place the image in Photos; duplicate it (command D), and make 1 of those copies black & white- double click, use Edit in Photos

  3. Put the B/W photo in Pages

  4. Drag the color copy to the desktop; open it

  5. Use the Smart Lasso tool; have the middle of the thick, red line move above the exact line you hope to trace... the 3 steps below show you how to get to the Smart Lasso...

6. After you have traced what you want, copy it. Paste it on top
of
the B/W piece in Pages.

7. You will likely need to resize it. A screenshot of your combined
work creates a new image that can be inserted into Sites.

•Method #2.......

1. Find a photo with lots of good, real color (like a living thing......) ... probably on the internet...

2. Drag the color copy to the desktop; open it.

3. Use the Smart Lasso tool; have the middle of the thick, red line move above the exact line you hope to trace... the 3 steps above show you how to get to the Smart Lasso...

4. Trace around the piece you wish to keep in color with the Smart Lasso as is outlined in step 5 above. Copy it and then paste it back in. Place it where you want it. Repeat this process if you wish to have more than one piece reinserted in color.

5. Go up to the Tools heading at the top, center of your computer screen and drag down to Adjust Color...

6. Drag the Saturation tool's slider to the far left.

7. You can save this image and it can be inserted into Sites.

Rather than use a black & white background with a colored piece in the foreground, simply cut out some aspect of one photo and insert it onto another photo of related material so that it is obvious that it has been done. I used screenshot/Preview, Smart Lasso, and Pages. I also utilized some layering......
