While you are not all old enough to vote yet, I want you to see how to access the ballots you would use.......

1. Click here to visit the Iowa SOS's office to learn of the legal description of your voting precinct.

A. Type in your zip code, check the not-robot box, then click Continue
B. Type in your street number and select the street by name, then click Search.

C. You will get something that looks like the image at the right. It is my info. This upcoming election is a general election, so look at the upper portion of the info. On mine, DEW5 stands for Decorah ward 5. My polling place is Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Your precinct will likely be an abbreviation. You also see "8" after CHURCH.....

2. Click here to be directed to the Winneshiek County
Auditor's Office for ballot information.

A. Scroll down to the Sample Ballots section and locate your precinct. My precinct is Decorah ward 5, shown as DEW5, which is identified as Precinct 8 (of 12 total...).

B. Click on the hyperlink for the sample ballot for your precinct. Ballots around Winneshiek County differ from address to address because where you live affects which elections you can participate in (varies by election/year) and which candidates you are eligible to vote for. A plat map for our county is also located at the bottom of this page.

Call me over and show me what the ballot would like for where you live.

The above graphic is a screenshot, so the hyperlink is not active.....

Recall... (1) Iowa does allow same day (election day) voter registration, though it is preferable to have this down 10 or more days in advance, and (2) be sure to have a government-issued photo ID with you when you go to vote.
