Makayla Kaufman - AM Kindergarten Teacher
It is my first year teaching! I completed my student teaching here at Eldorado in a Kindergarten/1st grade combination class. I received my teaching license along with an endorsement in Culturally/Linguistically Diverse Education from Metropolitan State University of Denver. I am a life-long learner. I also believe in an exciting and positive learning environment.
Heather Harris - Kindergarten Teacher
Heather Harris has been in education for 23 years. She earned a interdivisional major from Regis University in 1993, with a focus on elementary education K-6. Heather began her teaching career in Adams County District 50 teaching K-4th grade. She continued in early education until she came to Douglas County School District in 2013 as a substitute teacher with experience teaching K-6th grade. She has been at EE teaching Kindergarten since 2015.
Christine Kern - Kindergarten Teacher
Christine Kern has been working in Douglas County School District for eighteen years. She worked as a Kindergarten Educational Assistant for five years and has been a Kindergarten teacher for the past thirteen years at Eldorado Elementary. In 2008, she earned a B.A in Interdisciplinary Studies/Literacy and Teacher certification from Adams State University.
At Eldorado she is a representative on the EE Technology Committee, the EE PTO- Parent Teacher Organization, the BLT- Building Leadership team, and the Eldorado Community Garden. She is inspired to create a positive, enthusiastic, warm and caring learning environment that establishes lifelong learners.
Kindergarten Educational Assistants
Heather Dopke - AM Kindergarten Educational Assistant
This is Heather Dopke's first year back working in DCSD after staying home with her children for almost 8 years. Prior to staying home she was a Learning Specialist for 5 years in Illinois and Colorado. Heather will be assisting the half-day morning kindergarten, monitoring lunch/recess and assisting in the Panther Pathways program.
Nicki Eaton - Kindergarten Educational Assistant
Nicki is thrilled to be apart of the Kindergarten Team for the 2nd year! Previously she worked at Eldorado supporting children with significant needs, which drove Nicki to pursue her passion and go back to school to get a teaching degree. As well as being a part of kindergarten this year, she will also be teaching our new Coding & Robotics Double Specials every Thursday!
