The Concert Orchestra is a non-auditioned course open to all DCHS students. We welcome anyone who is interested in learning to play a string instrument.
This class is designed for both new students to orchestra and those continuing to refine their skills in preparation for more advanced study.
Students will learn the instrument of their choice: violin, viola, cello, or bass. Students will also focus on learning about a variety of musical styles—including rock, fiddling, world musics, classical, and jazz.
Two outside performances per year are required in December and May, with optional other performance opportunities throughout the year.
For students who do not have their own instrument, school instruments are available for rent for $50 per semester.
For concerts, students wear dressy concert black—black pants or a long black skirt, dressy black shirt, and black dress shoes.
