Julie Bruchs is in her third year directing the orchestras at DCHS. Mrs. Bruchs earned her Master of Music Education degree from CU Boulder with an emphasis in violin performance. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree, with high honors, from the University of Florida where she was the recipient of the David Wilmot Prize for Excellence in Music Education. She is currently the concertmaster of the Denver Pops Orchestra.
Since she has been at DC, the orchestras have been awarded Superior ratings at the CHSAA large group festival and have performed at the CU Boulder Orchestra Festival. Mrs. Bruchs has previously conducted the Southern Connecticut Regional Middle School Honor Orchestra and the Aurora Public Schools High School Honor Orchestra. She has previously been on staff at the University of Colorado Summer Music Academy and also the Interlochen Center for the Arts Summer Music Camp.
Mrs. Bruchs maintains active membership in the National Association for Music Education, American String Teachers Association, and Colorado Music Educators Association.
In her spare time, Mrs. Bruchs enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, and spending time with her husband and her two dogs.
