Chamber Music, or the performance of classical music in small ensembles (often without a conductor), is one of the most effective ways to train musicians for amateur and professional music-making outside of the classroom. At DCHS, we value and encourage students to develop chamber music ensembles and will offer free coaching for interested student groups.Â
The flagship ensemble of this program is our Huskie String Quartet, which will feature four of DCHS' finest student musicians on Violin, Viola, and Cello. Auditions for the Huskie String Quartet will be held towards the start of the school year. The focus of the HSQ will be to prepare for community performances, developing a wide range of classical and pops repertoire, including several of the form's great works, to suit a variety of performance occasions. The HSQ will perform at select DCHS orchestra concerts as well as regional and state Solo & Ensemble Festivals and throughout the Castle Rock and wider south metro community.
Our chamber ensembles, including the Huskie String Quartet, are always seeking performance opportunities out in our community. If you would like to book the Huskie String Quartet for your formal event or let us know of a performance opportunity, please send inquiries to Mr. Galerstein at jgalerstein@dcsdk12.org.
