Chamber Orchestra

The Chamber Orchestra is DC's highest level of performing ensemble for strings. Chamber Orchestra open to students in grades 10-12 who have extensive experience playing a string instrument. Admission into the Chamber Orchestra is based upon auditions that take place during the end of each fall and spring semesters.

This class focuses on a wide variety of classical and pops musical styles, advanced playing techniques, and a focus on performance. Students are expected to practice and prepare the music outside of class. Private lessons are strongly recommended.

Students will perform frequently throughout the community and school in additional to all concert performances throughout the year. The Chamber Orchestra will participate in the American String Teachers Associations Large Group Performance Festivals in the Spring. Students from this course are strongly encouraged to audition for and participate in honors orchestras, youth symphonies, and other outside performance opportunities.
