Chromebooks

Your child has received a Chromebook to be used for instructional purposes for the 2020-2021 school year. To meet the instructional needs of all students during the COVID-19 Hybrid and Virtual Instruction, several technology tools will be used by your child's teacher. Thanks to the features available on Chromebooks and Google Apps for Education, instructional technology tools can be used by your child regardless of internet access.

Important Information About Your Chromebook and Using Technology for Instruction

  • If you are participating in Hybrid Instruction, ensure that your Chromebook is fully charged and ready to bring to school during your instructional days.

  • Chromebooks are durable, but they are not to be left in extreme weather conditions (i.e personal vehicle or any outdoor conditions). Extreme heat, cold, or moisture can damage the Chromebook's screen or technology components.

  • Use computers/devices in a responsible and ethical manner.

  • Obey general school rules concerning behavior and communication that apply to technology use.

  • Use all technology resources in an appropriate manner so as to not damage school equipment. Take a proactive role to aid Dickenson County Public Schools in the protection of our computer system/devices by contacting an administrator about any security problems that they may encounter.

  • Comply with trademark and copyright laws and all license agreements. Ignorance of the law is not immunity. If you are unsure, ask a teacher or parent.

  • Plagiarism is a violation of the Dickenson County Public Schools Code of Conduct. Give credit to all sources used, whether quoted or summarized. This includes all forms of media on the Internet, such as graphics, movies, music and text.

  • Use or possession of hacking software is strictly prohibited and violators will be subject to Dickenson County Public Schools Student/Parent Handbook. Violation of applicable state or federal law may result in criminal prosecution or disciplinary action by the Division.

  • If a student should receive messages containing inappropriate or abusive language or if the subject matter is questionable, he/she is to make a teacher or administrator aware immediately.
