INSPIRE-DST Workshop for school students

Deshbandhu College, University of Delhi organized a student outreach program, INSPIRE-DST, under the encouragement and leadership of our Principal, Dr. Rajiiv Aggarwal and DBT STAR College coordinator, Dr. I.K Singh from 17th to 21st December, 2019. The program witnessed participation of over 300 students from various government as well as public schools from all corners of Delhi. The program aims to build a bridge between the knowledge gained at school level and the applications learnt at the undergraduate level. The Department of Biochemistry also participated in the program, wherein students were abridged about biomolecules like carbohydrate, proteins and nucleic acids and taught about assessing these biomolecules in the daily food intake by means of various laboratory experiments. The four day event was coordinated with the help of all the faculty members of the Department of Biochemistry under the convenorship of the, then Teacher in charge, Dr. Rajni Jain. The participating students were assessed regarding their experience based on a quiz as well as interaction during/after the experiments.
