The Department of Biochemistry, Deshbandhu College, has taken the initiative of organising and conducting weekly student and faculty seminars in form of paper presentation. This activity would have tremendous impact on the scientific reading as well writing and presentation skills of the student. Thus helping them immensely in future research endeavours!

The Department organised an event to name our journal club, wherein suggestions for names were invited from students as well as faculty members. The entries were then put to vote and the most popular choice was selected as the name of our journal club.
BIOCHEM RECONNOITRE was the most popular choice amongst the various suggestions! The student who suggested this name, Ms. Amritaparna Maity, 1st Yr Biochemistry (Hons) , was selected as a member of the Journal Club Society of the Department.

Who is a corresponding author? What do you mean by citation? How do you look up references? These are just some of the basic questions, when one steps into the world of scientific writing and reading! Reading and presenting a research paper can sometimes be a daunting task for undergraduate students!!
To sensitise the students towards various nuances of paper presentation, a training class was taken by Dr. Astha Giri, wherein the students were taught the basics of reading a scientific paper and how they can effectively present it! The Department aims to motivate and encourage more and more students to develop these scientific skills which would help them in presenting their research work not just as UG level, but in future as well.
