Head's Headline

I’d like to congratulate the Year 11s on the fantastic manner in which they’ve conducted themselves throughout the whole GCSE period. With the exams now finished and the prom taking place this week, I’d like to wish them all the very best of luck with their results. I hope they enjoy a restful and well-earned break over the summer before starting their next chapter - whether it be education, employment or training.

Further congratulations are in order for our newly appointed Student Executive Team. Students in Year 12 entered into a rigorous selection process to apply for these important roles which demand significant responsibility but also the reward of making a huge impact on the school community. With the results now in, I’m proud to announce that Yousuf S and Freya W have been appointed as the Croxley Danes Head Students and Harriet W and Liam BG are our new Deputy Head Students. We look forward to working with them in a leadership capacity. Four further Year 12s were appointed onto the inaugural Student Executive - Layla M (Sixth Form Committee Lead Prefect), Robin K (Charities Lead Prefect), Maya M (Enrichment Lead Prefect) and Breeanna C (Year 7 Lead Prefect). Well done to the whole Executive Team on their appointments.

When we reach this part of the Summer Term, we take the opportunity to expand students’ horizons and offer opportunities outside of the conventional curriculum during enrichment week. Students will be taking part in a variety of activities next week, including sailing excursions, work shadowing placements, DofE taster sessions and many outings including trips to Thorpe Park and the Design Museum in London. We hope the students will enjoy these interesting and exciting enrichment opportunities and would like to thank all the staff involved in the planning and delivery of these events - all of which incur additional work at the end of a busy year.

University of Hertfordshire Taster Day

The University of Hertfordshire Taster Day on 8th June 2023 welcomed Year 12 students from Croxley Danes School, aiming to introduce them to university life and inspire their ambitions. The event offered a range of engaging activities to explore the university experience.

Students had the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops and lectures relating to subjects they had chosen. This allowed them to get a taste of university-style learning and understand what it's like to be a university student.

GCSE Art and Technology Viewing Evening

We had a fabulous evening at our second Croxley Danes GCSE Art and Technology evening. Our doors opened to students, parents, grandparents, staff and governors to showcase a wide variety of the students’ practical art and design work. The event was a great success and a triumph to see such amazing work from across so many subjects. The work was accompanied by the impressive musical skill of our Head of Music, Mr Townend, who treated viewers to an audio delight. Congratulations to all the students involved, it was lovely to see the results of their hard work. The teachers of the Art and Technology departments wish you all the best for the future.

Science Poster Competition Winners

It was great to see our Key Stage 3 students get creative with their entries to the British Science Week 2023 poster competition. The theme was ‘connections’ with the competition being open to Years 7, 8 and 9. Congratulations to the winners, Isabella M and Joshua B in 7J who worked together, and Issac J from 9D. Mrs Agawal chose these winning entries because they highlighted brilliant ideas, passion and creative imagination. All three participants were awarded a £10 WHSmith voucher and will have their posters displayed in the science faculty.

Parent Association Update

The PA are holding a uniform sale at school on Saturday 15th July 9.00-11.00am. If you have any uniform that you no longer require, please deliver it to the school reception.

We’re very grateful for all your support, which in turn supports the students - following our last events we have been able to provide funding to support enrichment week activities which we hope that the students enjoy!
