Head's Headline

With the end of the GCSE and A level examinations in sight for many of our Year 11s and 13s, I would like to thank the students for the co operative and respectful manner in which they have approached the examinations to date and ask that they keep revising diligently until their final exam.

We welcomed another inspiring guest to Croxley Danes this month as part of the Speakers for Schools charity. David Dein MBE, former vice chairman of Arsenal Football Club and the Football Association spoke to our Year 12 students and successful Girls’ Football team on how working hard, having courage and standing out from the crowd is the route to success. Mr Dein’s wisdom left a lasting impression on the students, giving them lots of inspiration to take away.

This week it’s been a pleasure inviting Year 5 students from Little Green and Ascot Road primary schools to Croxley Danes for a taster of secondary school life. Students from Year 7 did a fantastic job escorting the children on their tour of the school and answering any questions they had. Thank you to all the staff involved in organising this experience for the children who all seemed to have an enjoyable day, with one child remarking loudly as they left that ‘this school is something amazing!’

Brilliant Club Students Graduate at Oxford

The Scholars Programme gives students from non-selective sixth forms and colleges the opportunity to work with a PhD researcher to develop key academic skills and experience university-style learning, in preparation for successful applications and transitions to higher education. All Year 12s at Croxley Danes were offered this opportunity and students were able to self refer in order to take part.

An Inspirational Talk by David Dein MBE

On Tuesday 4th June, we were privileged to welcome former vice-chairman of Arsenal Football Club David Dein MBE to Croxley Danes as part of the Speakers for Schools initiative, to deliver an inspiring and engaging talk to our Year 12 students and our successful girls’ football team about the route to success and how to stand out from the crowd.

David has had an incredible career, taking Arsenal from strength to strength during his 24 years with the club and, most notably, being the driving force behind the creation of the FA Premier League in 1992, with his ideas reshaping the structure and finances of English football into what it is today.
