Introduction

It’s our absolute pleasure to warmly welcome you into our #tdcdancefamily at Terpsichore Dance Company! Our team is thrilled to see many familiar faces return to the studio and even more excited to see some new faces join our community. We have created this one-stop handbook to hopefully shed some light on how things will run throughout the year as well as answer a lot of queries you may have. While we would love you to take the time to read this information carefully and keep your handbook in a safe place to refer to as you need, don’t forget that our friendly office staff are always here to help and will happily answer any queries you may have. Nothing is too big or too small, we promise! ☺

This handbook will serve as your guide to Terpsichore Dance Company and its philosophy of dance education.

We take our roles as a mentors and teachers in your child’s life very seriously. It is our objective to inspire a passion for the art of dance in every child who passes through our doors. In the process, we strive to set the right example and help your child (and you) create memories that will last a lifetime.

Philosophy

Terpsichore Dance Company is committed to providing high-quality dance classes to enhance the overall development of your child. We provide a safe, child-centred environment that encourages our students to explore dance with qualified, nurturing teachers.

We believe that dance training encourages young people to develop a positive self-image as they increase awareness of their physical being. Along with improving coordination skills and developing muscular awareness, dance classes give children the freedom to express themselves through movement. We also believe that learning dance teaches important life skills such as being prepared for class, wearing a uniform, organising all your dance items, building confidence to ask questions and answer them, learn how to practice, how to be a leader, how to work with others, how to feel and express your feelings, and so much more! Dance will provide your child with many important tools that they will use in their adult life. 

The highest educational standards are expected from all TDC faculty members. They are lifelong learners who continue to educate themselves through certification programs, teacher-training schools, conferences, and other learning opportunities.

About This Handbook

Going on 16  years our school has been involved in dance education. We believe our success stems from providing solid training and quality service, as well as our underlying belief in the strength of our organisation. We have created this handbook to offer our students and their parents a clear understanding of their commitments and responsibilities to the school.
