Week 1 Discussion

I know some of you are questioning whether or not you can do what's required in this class. Many of you have a real fear of mathematics, and others have had poor past experiences that make it difficult to think of being successful. Some of you are having to spend more time on certain sections than others and feel overwhelmed.

But you must stay positive, and I'm here to help.

Don't say "I hope I can make it through the course". Say instead "I WILL make it through the course BECAUSE I have no other choice. I just know it'll take hard work and perseverence."

I used to watch "The Little Engine That Could" with my kids and there's a line in the movie that I tell my kids anytime they say they can't do something.

"If you think you can't, you won't...But if you think you can, you will . Either way, you're right !!"

You ALL can do this. Anyone can do this. We're going to discuss techniques and pathways to get you to your goal and I'l be your cheerleader for the term.

Take this survey and count up your results, then respond to the following prompt.

If you are comfortable sharing (no reason to be shy), what was your total score after adding up the total score from all of your responses? What statements had you never thought of doing? What statements do you feel will help you be more successful in the class? What do you do almost always? Almost never?
