Word Attack Strategies for Reading

When you get stuck on a word, try these Word Attack Strategies to figure it out.

1. Get your mouth ready to make the first sound.

2. Chunk it! Look for smaller words hiding inside.

3. Look at the picture clues.

4. Repeat the word. Reread the sentence.

5. Think about the meaning of the story.

6. Skip the word and come back to it.
