See my weekly newsletter for more details.
1. The weekly homework packet is due on the last day of each week unless otherwise specified, once weekly homework begins. It must be signed to indicate that your child has completed 4 or more days of practice.
2. Books in a bag (once they begin) – these should be read aloud by your child each night to improve fluency. The books in the bag should be in your child’s Take Home folder every day, as we use them for in-class activities. The goal for the end of the year is reading level "J" or higher. This homework will start after the first few weeks of school have passed. A note will be sent home.
3. Words – Review the HF and spelling words/phonics pattern nightly. The spelling test is on the last day of each week unless otherwise specified, once weekly spelling lists begin.
4. Read – Please read with your child each night and discuss what you are reading to improve comprehension skills.
5. Math Facts - Please practice + and - math facts nightly. The goal by the end of the year is fluency (quick answers) in addition and subtraction facts through 10. Students also need to be able to use strategies to compute addition and subtraction to 20.
6. Recommended (optional) Extra Practice activities in the homework packet can be completed, as needed.
Reminder: Although students do not turn their card when homework is not returned on the day that it is due (one day of mercy is given before cards are turned), they will miss out on fun activities like Show & Tell if homework is not returned on the due date. Any late homework may affect grades. Please help your child develop responsibility by returning homework when it is due. Thanks!
