Career Academy is a required course for all Sophomores and provides students an opportunity to discover their present interests, values, aptitudes, skills, and personality type. This individual self-knowledge is applied through research of possible careers each might choose to consider. Students update their own career portfolio throughout the class.
Career development opportunities include:
Experience an on site job shadow
Ethics Workshop and Mock Interviews with community members
Exploration of the qualities and characteristics of an ideal employee
Creation of a resume and cover letter
Individualized digital student portfolio
The career development process demonstrated throughout Career Academy can be repeated throughout life as individual student aptitudes and interests continue to develop and grow.
Demonstrate effective communication skills to give and receive information in school, community, and workplace.
Demonstrate academic, technical, and organizational knowledge and skills required for successful employment.
Demonstrate career development skills in planning for post high school experiences.
