Hi 1st Grade!
This week we get to have two music lessons! This is the second music lesson for the week June 1-5. Make sure you complete lesson #1 first. It will help you with this lesson.
Please work on these music activities for approximately 30 minutes. Have fun!
Part 1: Music Note Reminder
Watch this short video so Mrs. Kapustka can remind you about our 1st Grade Rhythms.
Rhythms tell us how long or short a note is.
The first grade rhythms are:
Ta - 1 sound on 1 beat
Titi - 2 quick sounds on 1 beat
Rest - 0 sounds on 1 beat (1 silent beat)
Part 2: Create a Rhythm Composition
Watch this video so Mrs. Kapustka can explain this week’s project where you will use the notes ta, titi, and rest to create a rhythm composition (song).
Choose ONE of these options in order to create your rhythm composition:
Option 1
Log into your Music Seesaw page. I uploaded the composition paper as an activity in Seesaw.
Complete the activity called 1st Grade Rhythm Composition.
Option 2
Use the paper below if you have a printer and you would like to print it out.
Or you can write it on any paper you have at home.
If you get stuck you can use these tools for help:
Rhythm Review Sheet
Use this rhythm review sheet if you need a reminder about how the different notes sound.
Rhythm Flash Cards
Use these flash cards for ideas if you get stuck trying to think of a rhythm pattern.
Part 2: Perform Your Composition.
Perform your composition by saying your rhythms out loud.
You could perform your composition using just your voice or you can add body percussion (claps, stomps, pats, snaps), an instrument you have at home, or a found sound instrument like tapping on top of an oatmeal container to make a drum.
You could even perform this composition for Mrs. Kapustka by recording a video of it in Seesaw.
Optional Bonus Part:
If you want more rhythm practice, you can review these videos from last week!
Play these two videos. Say the rhythms that appear in the video while you listen to these songs.
