School Store - February 6th and 8th
At Dundee Middle School we follow ARK in the building.
A - Accountability
R - Responsibility
K - Kindness
Students are expected to show ARK in all areas of Dundee Middle School. PBIS has been focusing for the last month on holding students Accountable, and Responsible for their Chromebooks. There have been too many students coming to school that have broken another Chromebook, don't have it in class, or it isn't charged. Three students are picked each week to see if they have 1) a Chromebook at school, 2) it is charged, 3) in working order, and 4) they must be able to login. If these students are able to login they then earn a prize.
Students learned about derogatory language, and how it affects others and the learning enviornment. Defined broadly, derogatory language includes any type of insinuation and allegation about members of a given social category that explicitly ridicules or insults them. Students had great discussions about how social media, movies, and tv has normalized the use of derogatory langauge. Which makes it seem more acceptable to use in the classroom, and on a daily basis.
For the month of February students will be learning about the different methods of communication during their exploritiory classes.
They will be discussing about they will be discussing why good communication is improtant, and how facial expressions is a form of communication. They will also be looking at the 4 different forms of communication: Assertive, Passive, Aggressive, and Passive-Agressive.
