January 2025: Module 5
Module 5- Rates and Ratios.: Students will explore writing a ratio three ways, finding equivalent ratios, completing ratio tables, and finding unit rate. A ratio is a way to compare two quantities by showing how many times the first number contains the second one. Ratios can be written in several three ways. A rate is a special type of ratio where the two quantities being compared have different units. A common rate is miles per hour (mph) or price per item. Next up, Module 7: Percents
7th Grade Math
This month, seventh grade math students will be diving into two essential algebra skills: simplifying expressions and solving two-step equations. These are key building blocks for mastering algebra and preparing for more advanced math topics.
7th Grade Accelerated Math
This month, the students will be learning all about inequalities. We’ll explore how to solve them, graph them, and understand what makes them different from equations. Inequalities are essential for understanding real-world situations where solutions can fall within a range of possibilities.
8th Grade Algebra 1A
January 2025: Module 6
We are diving into the concept of functions, where each input corresponds to exactly one output, forming the foundation of many mathematical relationships. We also explore the equation of a line, y=mx+b, where m represents the slope and b is the y-intercept, key to understanding linear relationships.
8th Grade Honors Algebra
The students did an excellent job on their first final exam in December! We are now starting the second semester topics that will be "non-linear" including exponents, quadratics, and polynomials. We are currently working on exponents and all of their properties.
