Equity Teaching Academy: Examine for Equity

“Examine for Equity” is the first course in a series of the inaugural offering of the Equity Teaching Academy. This course invites staff from D211, D220, D214 and Harper to examine their individual and institutional contexts to generate deeper awareness of issues related to educational inequities. The course is taught by a lead faculty member from the College of Education at Illinois State University, Dr. Pamela Twyman Hoff, and assisted by a facilitation team of Harper faculty who helped to refine the curriculum.

Format: Format: Online and synchronous, with one HyFlex meeting date on Tuesday, October 18 from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. in F315, which can be attended either in-person or virtually. All other sessions will take place online synchronously on Tuesdays from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m

Equity Teaching Academy: Reflect on Equity

“Reflect on Equity” is the second course in a series of the inaugural offering of the Equity Teaching Academy. This course guides faculty from D211, D220, D214 and Harper through experiences for deep reflection on their course design and facilitation. The course is taught by a lead faculty member from the College of Education at Northern Illinois University, Dr. Joseph Flynn, and assisted by a facilitation team of Harper faculty who helped to refine the curriculum.

Format: Blended, Hyflex. This is a blended, hyflex course with online live meetings every Thursday from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. with an on campus session every other week; participants will have an option to live stream the on campus sessions from a remote location if desired.

Equity Teaching Academy: Redesign for Equity

“Redesign for Equity” is the third course in a series of the inaugural offering of the Equity Teaching Academy. This course prompts faculty from D214 and our neighboring districts to consider institutional and course-level data as they envision ways to redesign aspects of their courses around equity pedagogies.

Format: Blended/Hyflex. This is a blended, hyflex course with on-campus meetings every Thursday (except for the week of spring break) from 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. in Building F, Room F315. On-campus meetings can be live-streamed if attendees cannot attend in person. (Note: programs with an on-campus/blended component are subject to change based on campus COVID safety measures.)
