Standards & LEARNING TARGETS
Most learning targets in SCS Band's content are guided by a balance of 4 processes from the National Core Art Standards for Music:
CREATE
Conceiving and developing new artistic ideas and work
PERFORM
Realizing artistic ideas and work through interpretation and presentation
RESPOND
Understanding and evaluating how the arts convey meaning
CONNECT
Relating artistic ideas and work with personal meaning and external content
The CVSD K-8 music teachers developed a simplified, general, and connective set of music learning targets that are derived from the National Core Art Standards and are equally shared among these 4 processes. Although "connect" often is inherently embedded in music education, an intentional connection for each of our learning targets is made to the CVU graduation standards to the left:
