KUD's (Knowledge, Understandings, Do's) are working documents that give design to educational outcomes. They list the content Knowledge to inform the skills (the Do's) that we will see, hear, and assess. Teachers want students to connect to larger ideas that are related to the knowledge and skills -- and that are all transferable across discipline. Therefore, the KUD frames the knowledge and skills in an Understanding that helps students see the overall thinking over time.
