I am entering my ffifth year teaching at Castro Valley High School and my 17th year overall. Over my teaching career, I’ve taught Advanced Placement United States Government, United States History, World History, Honors Economics, Athletic P.E., Team Sports, P.E 1 & 2 (at the high school level) and four years of elementary P.E. (grades 1st-5th). Additionally, I am entering my sixth year as the Head Varsity Football Coach at CVHS. I have coached at the high level for 17 years- football for 17 and baseball for 7.
I am CVHS grad myself (c/o 2000). I played football and baseball all four years in high school. Following high school, I went to Chabot College where I received my Associates Degree in Liberal Studies and played football. I continued my education at U.C. Davis where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science with a minor in History. Lastly, I earned a Masters in Secondary of Education from the University of Phoenix.
I am married to my beautiful wife Christa of 11 years. She teaches 5th grade in Dublin Unified. We have one son, Jaxson who is now 8 and entering the 3rd grade.
I believe having a healthy lifestyle is not only going to lead to a long life, but also will improve academic success. Personally, I like to do high intensity interval training, lift weights, go for runs on the trail behind my house and play as many sports while spending as much time as possible with my son. I continue to struggle with a back injury from over 8 years ago. However, I truly believe staying fit and active helps prevent flare up and discomfort.
My goal is to provide a curriculum that is safe but challenging, provides choice, and includes varied activities and exercises. It is my hope that my students are engaged and sees the short and long term benefits of being physically fit.
