Climate Careers with the Rising Sun Center for Opportunity
Climate Careers is an employment and training program for 15 to 22-year-olds. As an Energy Assistant, you’ll help residents save energy, water, and money through Green House Calls.
The Climate Careers program was started by a small group of high schoolers who were eager to take direct environmental action in their community. When you work with Rising Sun, you’ll gain valuable professional skills, work in a supportive environment, earn a paycheck, AND help your community!
To be an Energy Assistant, you must be:
Resident in one of the nine Bay Area counties or the City of Stockton

June 13 - 14, 2022: Orientation and In-Person Coursework - 9:30 - 12:30 at the Tri-Valley Career Center - you may stay after and use the computers.
June 16, 2022 : OSHA 7005 - Public Warehousing and Storage Certification - In-person - 8:30 am - 4:00 pm all day training - Box lunches will be provided. Tri-Valley Career Center.
June 17, 2022: Forklift Certification In-person. You must arrange your own transportation to and from the training site in Livermore. Training begins at 9:00 am sharp!
June 21- 23, 2022: Job Search Bootcamp - In-person - 9:30 - 12:30 at the Tri-Valley Career Center
June 27, 2022 - Mock interviews with industry employers - 1:00 - 3:00 at the Tri-Valley Career Center
On-Going: Individualized job search assistance from a career advisor
Skilled Trades Internships in the Water Sector
This program provides:
Paid internship for 24-40 hours/week at Water/Wastewater Agencies in and around the SF BayArea
Assistance with transportation and safety equipment costs
Post-internship job placement services & referrals to job openings with Bay Area agencies
Referral to local apprenticeship and civil service testing opportunities
Eligibility:
Age 18 or older by the starting date of Internship
Authorized to work in the U.S.
Valid driver’s license
Access to a vehicle
Enrolled in a community college trades program related to maintenance and operations at a water facility, such as:
Instrumentation/Electronic Maintenance Tech
Industrial maintenance mechanic/machinist
Water Resources Management (Operator Training)
