Interpretive Student Aides are currently enrolled high school and college students who work alongside Naturalist staff to provide interpretive programs and public information in a park visitor center and surrounding parklands. These paid positions are designed for students considering a career in interpretation, environmental education, natural history, cultural history, or park professions while supplementing their current coursework in natural science and/or cultural history. In addition to gaining natural and cultural history information relating to parks, students will develop interpretive skills in this training position.
Applications will be reviewed as received; those candidates whose backgrounds most closely fit our requirements may be invited for an interview.
The Park District's operations are currently modified due to COVID-19 that may affect seasonal assignment needs.
Essential Functions
Assists Naturalist staff by performing a variety of duties such as providing public interpretive and educational programs (snake talks, farm tours, youth programming, mine tours, history talks, etc.)
Feeding and caring for animals and fish, handling cash and merchandise, or light horticulture tasks
Performing public information duties such as greeting the public, answering the phone, stocking brochures, and otherwise assisting the public while they are in the visitor center
Maintaining bulletin boards and displays
Assisting with accession program, and assisting with research out in the park.
Additionally, may perform other minor duties as are needed at the centers such as running errands, performing minor custodial duties, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
Interpretive Student Aide I: Equivalent to the completion of the tenth grade, 16 years of age or older.
Interpretive Student Aide II: Completion of 3-semester units of college-level natural science, cultural history, or other academic course work compatible with placement.
Both I and II:
Must be in current student status
Must possess a valid California Driver License

City of San Leandro Lifeguard
East Bay Regional Park District Hiring Lifeguards, Ages 16+
The East Bay Regional Park District is looking to hire new lifeguards for the 2024 swim season at its 12 East Bay swim facilities, which include lakes, lagoons, and swimming pools. All new lifeguard positions are seasonal, full-time positions from May through September. Anyone ages 16 and over before April 20, 2024 are encouraged to apply. Starting pay is $20.78 per hour.
Participants who pass the tests will be invited to the Park District’s Lifeguard Academy where they will receive paid training and certification in open water lifeguarding. The Lifeguard Academy takes place over five consecutive weekends in April and May, with the swim season beginning in late May for most facilities.
Lifeguards can work at any of the Park District’s swim facilities in various cities in Alameda and Contra Costa counties, such as Antioch, Concord, Livermore, Hayward, Castro Valley, Oakland, Alameda, and Berkeley.

Euro School of Tennis Sports Interns
Sports Intern Responsibilities:
Lead groups of ages 5 – 10 in after school programs and ages 3 and up for group clinics.
Assist the lead coach in teaching and overall management of the tennis program.
Take attendance and sign in and sign out students for class.
Setup the tennis equipment.
Requirements:
Must enjoy working with kids and manage a class in a professional manner.
Must be flexible, reliable, punctual, professional and has an enthusiastic approach.
Must have good communication and interpersonal skills.
Must carry a resilient, positive attitude.
Must be able to work independently and within a small team.
Must have own reliable transportation throughout the East and South Bay and Peninsula.
Locations:
We provide services in multiple areas throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. We make every effort to only assign schools that are within what you determine to be a reasonable commuting distance.
Currently, programs are located in Fremont, Los Altos, Menlo Park, San Jose, and San Mateo.
Candidates must be readily available and living in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Schedule:
Classes are 1 to 1.5-hour length.
Start times for classes can vary anywhere between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. for after school programs and anytime between 8 a.m. – 9 p.m. for group clinics.
Flexible schedule, work two or more days per week.
