This orientation course builds on the basic skills and knowledge gained in the Introduction to Agricultural Industry. Major units of instruction include advanced plant science, soil science, animal science, and agricultural mechanics. Applied science and math skills will be stressed throughout the course as they relate to each area. The development of leadership, employability and computer skills will also be taught. Because FFA and SAEPs are integral components of this course, students are encouraged to maintain SAEPs and to participate in activities of the FFA organization.

Pre-Veterinary Studies is designed as an introductory course in the area of animal science and behavior. This course is designed to prepare students for more advanced and specialized courses in post-secondary schools. Students will study topics such as: basic anatomy and physiology, animal behavior, animal feeding and nutrition, and animal reproduction. Students will study animals such as: beef cattle, swine, sheep, goats, dairy cattle, horses and small companion animals. Because FFA and SAEPs are integral components of this course, students are encouraged to maintain SAEPs and to participate in activities of the FFA organization.

Veterinary Science course will impart information about the causes, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases and injuries of animals, typically emphasizing domestic and farm animals. This course is designed to develop knowledge and skills in the following areas: using soil and other plant growing media; identifying horticultural plants; propagating horticultural plants; basics of growing horticultural plants in greenhouse and nursery settings; constructing, maintaining and using plant-growing structures; operating, repairing and maintaining equipment used in the horticultural field. Improving computer and workplace skills will be a focus. Units of study include plant identification, greenhouse management, culture of greenhouse crops, care and handling of cut flowers, and floral design. Also included are landscape design, installation, and maintenance; horticulture mechanics; nursery management; and turf production. Agribusiness units will cover operating a horticultural business, pricing work, advertising, and sales. Improving computer and workplace skills will be a focus. Because FFA and SAEPs are integral components of this course, students are encouraged to maintain SAEPs and to participate in activities of the FFA organization.

This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge of basic economic principles of micro and macro economics, international economics, comparative economic systems, measurements, and methods, and agricultural sales and communication.
