A snowy Sunday Stroll

Smithton Primary Outdoor Explorers on a Sunday afternoon walk to watch the birds on the pond at UHI.

There was not much water for the ducks and swans to swim in as it had frozen over in the cold, icy weather.

We used a glove to work out the size of some of the bird prints we found at UHI. The bird that left these prints is much bigger than the one on the right hand side.

When you compare the shape and size of these bird prints you will notice that they are a lot different from the photo we can see on the left.

Helping our Winter Wildlife

Follow this recipe to make a cake for the birds.

Laura is putting her bird cake up in the garden for all the birds to enjoy

Deer prints found in Culloden Forest.

Look out for red squirrel tracks in your garden or the local woods.

This garden visitor was filmed by one of our Outdoor Explorers from their window. At this time of year it is important to help the wildlife that live around us, as their food and water is often frozen or hidden beneath the snow.

Film is 1 minute long.
